“Because you will keep only the things you truly love, your energy and joy will increase. You may be physically tired, but it feels so good to get rid of unnecessary items that you will find it hard to stop”
-p. 66, “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up”
Last week I finally got around to actually decluttering my wardrobe! After finishing the “clothes” section in “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up” I felt ready and armed with good tips to tackle the clothes that I own. Unfortunately I didn’t do a great job at taking before and after pictures (there are some more detailed shots in my video at the end of this post however), but here is a general overview:
It may not look like much of a difference, but before I had clothes in so many different drawers around my room, and now I am able to fit everything (aside from a few bulky winter items, and my skiing gear and jackets) in my closet. I would consider that a success!
I spent an entire couple of days finalizing my decluttering (but only filmed the first day) because I wanted to make absolutely sure about the items I had decided to declutter and keep. I wanted to make sure that I was being practical in the items I decluttered, but also that I truly was focusing on my own happiness in the process, and my journey towards a happier more minimal, and intentional lifestyle.
It was an exhausting couple of days, but I already feel lighter, and I absolutely love the way that my closet is organized and how all of my individual pieces are now visible right away when I open up my closet!
If you would like more details about the steps I took to declutter as well as a more in-depth explanation of the process and my thoughts, you can check out my other post here!
