Playfully Jeanette dabbed som flour on Martin’s nose. He returned the favor, and the kids started laughing at their parents and covered their own noses in snow-white flour as well. Standing there in the kitchen together surrounded by baked goods, with flour-covered nose tips, and candles slowly burning a warm light of love, this family of five was the very embodiment of the spirit of Christmas – love, smiles, fun, and coziness.
Last week I had the privilege of capturing some precious moments of this family at their beautiful home in Viborg, Denmark. We started out our session with a little baking then enjoyed the Christmas tree and puzzling around a little. The weather forecast had promised rain all day, but at the end of our session the rain – as if by a miracle – stopped and we went outside for a few outdoor portraits together (coming in a different post)!
It was such a joy getting to capture this wonderful family, and to share these moments of happiness and coziness with them! Their love for each other is so obvious and so obviously strong. When I asked them what their favorite Christmas song was, Jeanette said Mariah Carey’s “All I want for Christmas is You.” They are fighting especially hard for this togetherness this year as Martin is going through his second brutal battle with cancer. If you want to read more about their story (DANSK), and possibly donate, you can READ MORE HERE.
Presence truly is the greatest present; A thoughtful present wrapped in love is always a beautiful thing, but presence is always the greatest present of all!
Enjoy these cozy Christmas captures and the Holiday spirit and joy that they exude! I had so much fun at this session and hope that these pictures bring you all some cheer during this wonderful season!
