It has been somewhat of a hectic month moving out of our downtown Frankfurt apartment and settling into a new place here in Flensburg! Most of our belongings are still in boxes and even though we have electricity and a functioning kitchen now, we still have lots to finish up. But our house here feels a little more like a home than it did even a few weeks ago- and to me, that is gold!
As we have been starting to settle in here I’ve reflected on some of the other cities I’ve lived in, and I am so grateful for all the experiences I’ve gathered, all the people I’ve met, and all the places I’ve seen! I tend to adapt and grow roots quickly, but even so, and maybe even because of this, goodbye’s never seem to have gotten easier and I always struggle with it.
For the last month I’ve been reminding myself of some very profound words spoken by a very wise bear;
“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.”
I love this quote by Winnie the Pooh and it reminds me how perspective really is everything. How lucky I am to have lived in so many wonderful places, met so many amazing people, and to have had so many incredible experiences. I hope that when the time comes to pick up and move again that saying goodbye to Flensburg will be difficult!
But until then, here’s to meeting more amazing people and hopefully also connecting with some of you through photography, and to the experiences waiting to be had!
