The winter sun was slowly setting and the cool golden rays of the lowering sun were radiating a beautiful glow that swept across the landscape; lighting up the rolling hills, the leaf-less trees and the shallow lakes of the surrounding fields. In the midst of this winter glow Marie-Louise and Nicolaj were standing in a close embrace, basking in the glow and in the warmth of their love.

Marie-Louise and Nicolaj met 6 years ago while studying together and when I asked them if it was love at first sight, they both agreed that it was- so sweet!

Marie-Louise and Nicolaj are, in their own words, like salt and pepper. They have so many differences – their taste in music, their style, Nicolaj’s meticulousness in planning vs. Marie-Louise’s spontaneity in life, just to name a few. But with these difference comes the perfect match, and in everything they complement each other beautifully!

We started their session at Sct. Bendts church in Ringsted, Denmark, where on their five-year anniversary of being a couple, Nicolaj asked Marie-Louise to be his forever love! Since Nicolaj had succeeded in keeping it a secret, it came as a wonderful and joyful surprise to Marie-Louise and her answer was a confident “Yes!”

It was so special being able to take pictures at the church where they got engaged and will marry next year! After the first part of our session there, we headed to a nearby path that they often walk together and we were able to catch the last of the setting sun!

It was a beautiful and sweet session and I loved the winter glow and the muted colors! I am already looking forward to their wedding next year!
